When I look at Laurie Melia's ceramic vagina wall pieces and vases, I feel happy and celebrated! I love how soft but raw these are. The gold plated clitorises is a touch of genius. It's a touch that says "this is precious, this is important, do not forget".
When I see other women display pride, it makes me feel like the struggles and triumphs I experience as a female are not just my own. These ceramic pieces do that. It's important to say that you don't have to have a vagina to be a woman, and you don't have to be a woman to value and stand for women's rights, but the vagina as a symbol of womanhood is a strong and true one.
When millions of women take to the streets to stand up for liberty and equality and stand against a real threat to those things, it gives me hope. The Women's March 2017 is done, but the fight against freedom and injustice isn't over. Let's fight it within our circles - small ones, then wider ones, and still wider ones. Let's paint this fight golden and say, "this is precious, this is important, do not forget".
